The interior glazing package at the West Block of Parliament Hill was not without its difficulties, but well worth it once the final product was completed.
An extremely stringent specification coupled with unique safety requirements made sourcing materials a constant challenge. Flynn’s scope included elements of steel fabrication, point supported glass, skylight framing, ballistic glazing, and standard aluminum doors & framing. More often than not, the crew was required to combine many of these aspects, as well as electrical and security, into the same roof system.
Overall, the West Block was a challenging and intricate job which the crew is proud to have completed especially in Ottawa’s most iconic building.
