At the new Red River College Innovation Centre our crew led by Foreman Phil Bonneteau has started installing the building-integrated photovoltaic panels.
The panels have a tapered design that will provide visual depth and reflect the sunlight in different hues, all while absorbing/conducting energy and protecting the building from the elements. The RRC Innovation Centre is intended to be an active laboratory measuring energy consumption and generation levels for electricity, heating, cooling, and lighting. These BIPV panels will help offset energy consumption in the building up to 193Mwh/year.
The installation will be one of the first of its kind in Canada and is hopefully a sign of the future of cladding.
