Boise’s crew are finishing up the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) Education Center in Pendleton, Oregon. The project was managed from the Boise, Idaho Flynn office. Foreman Ben Frank and his crew came over from the Spokane branch. Ben also had help from several of the local Umatilla tribe members.
Flynn is responsible for 16,000 sq. ft. of TPO roofing, 65,500 sq. ft. of metal roofing, and 12,000 sq. ft. of metal soffit and screen wall.
The crew installed a vapor barrier, 3-layers of 2” Polyiso Insulation, Inc-Tapered and an 80-mil adhered TPO Carlisle system in the gym and kitchen. In the steep areas, they installed a vapor barrier, 3-layers of 2” Polyiso insulation, full HT ice & water shield over the entire deck and AEP 16” 24ga Span Seam metal roof panels. All panels were 180 degree mechanically seamed. Then, the crew used AEP 24ga Flush panel soffit at all eaves and entrances. All exposed roof beam ends were capped with 24ga prefinished metal caps.
Because starting in late fall 2018, the winter snow and ice forced the crew to stop work at one point. Moreover, the project was built on an old farm field which made for poor site conditions. The site became very muddy from the fall rains which caused the fork-lifts and man-lifts to get stuck. Crews had to pull them out with other equipment.
In February, the snow piled up on the roofs and made it impossible to continue so work paused for five weeks. Despite the weather, crews finished the job with a high standard of workmanship.
Thank you to Mike, Joe, Cory and Iain for travelling onsite from Boise to help with parts of the project.
